Řežabinec and Řežabinecké tůně is National nature reserve situated between Kestřany, Ražice and Putim village, Písek District, in the Czech Republic. The reason of protection is the occurrence of valuable littoral communities which provide suitable habitat for many species of birds used this vegetation for breeding and other animal species. It is protected both Řežabinecké pond with adjacent pools caused by flooding of the old medieval mining holes, and significant archaeological site on the hill Pikárna, where widespread human settlement have been in Paleolithic and Mesolithic.[1]

The pond was built in former river bed through which the Otava River formerly flowed and wetland occurred. Construction started in 1530 at the instigation of Lord of Zvíkov Castle, Kryštof ze Švamberku.[2] Gradually water area overgrown with littoral vegetation consisting mainly by reed, and this valuable vegetation covered approximately 40% of Řežabinec area.[2] However inappropriate economic interventions (excessive fish production mostly in the 1970s and 1980s) have resulted in damage of a protected area and extinction of many species.[3] Now days Reed coverage declined to approximately 15% occurrence of Řežabinec pond area.[2] To 2011 pond is in state-owned managed by Agentura pro ochranu krajiny ČR, which seeks to restore species diversity and minimize negative impacts of human.[1]
