+7 is an ITU country code for telephone numbering. This code was originally assigned to the Soviet Union. After the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991, most but not all of the former Soviet Socialist Republics obtained their own country code assignments. The +7 code is currently in use in Russia, Kazakhstan, and for some areas in Abkhazia.
