The Zimbabwe national football team, nicknamed The Warriors, is the national team of Zimbabwe and is controlled by the Zimbabwe Football Association. They were known as the Rhodesia national football team until 1980, when Rhodesia became Zimbabwe. They have never qualified for the World Cup finals, and did not qualify for their first African Nations Cup until 2004.

Zimbabwe beat Madagascar in first round of a two legged tie. The aggregate score was 4-3 and Zimbabwe advanced to the group stages.

However Zimbabwe finished second to neighbours and rivals South Africa in the group stage, thus failing to qualify for the 2002 World Cup.

2006 Qualifiers

Zimbabwe were drawn in the same group as Nigeria and Algeria. They failed to qualify for the 2006 World Cup held in Germany, finishing third behind Nigeria and Angola.

2010 Qualifiers

Zimbabwe were drawn in the same group as Namibia, Guinea and Kenya with the 12 group winners and 8 best runners-up progressing to second round of qualification.

The Warriors started qualification under manager Valinhos with a 0-0 draw away to Guinea on 1 June. Namibia were then defeated 2-0 on 8 June at the Rufaro Stadium, Harare to send Zimbabwe to the top of their 2010 World Cup & Africa Cup of Nations qualification group. Eventually they finished third in the group, eliminating them from the tournament.
