Zyvex is an early stage (as of 2005) nanotechnology company located in Richardson, Texas. It was founded by James R. Von Ehr II in 1997 as the first molecular-nanotechnology company.

Zyvex is currently (as of 2008) targeting specific applications in the aerospace, defense, electronics, telecommunications and medical industries. The short- to intermediate-term goal is to exploit the major improvements--often 10 to 1,000 times better than existing technology--offered by today's early-stage nanotechnology developments. The long-term goal has previously been stated to be to create a full-fledged general assembler.

In 2001, NIST awarded Zyvex a $25 million research program to accelerate the production and commercialization of low-cost assemblers for micro- and nanoscale components and subsystems. Zyvex claims to be one of the few nanotechnology businesses that generate revenue (as of 2005).

In April of 2007 Zyvex Corporation ceased to exist, and in its place Zyvex Instruments, [1], Zyvex Performance Materials [2], and Zyvex Labs [3] emerged.

Zyvex instruments sells Nanomanipulators and Nanoprobers. The former are used by universities, national laboratories, and industrial laboratories to manipulate and measure nanoscale objects inside scanning electron microscopes. The latter are used by semiconductor companies to probe individual transistors anywhere in the die at the contact level. Over 100 such nanomanipulators and nanoprobers are in the field world wide.

Zyvex Performance Materials has moved to Columbus Ohio and is selling a variety of carbon nanotube(CNT) / polymer composites. Sporting goods companies such as Easton and Aldila use CNT/Polymer composites to make baseball bats, bicycle parts, hockey sticks, and golf club shafts. Zyvex Performance Materials also has large defense companies as customers.

Zyvex Labs continues to work towards Atomically Precise Manufacturing with the aid of Government Research Contracts.

Also in 2007 Zyvex Asia was founded in Singapore. All four companies continue to be privately held.
