Zyklon is a Norwegian death metal band formed in 1998 by Samoth and Trym of Norwegian black metal band Emperor, along with former members of Myrkskog.
All the band's lyrics are written by former Emperor drummer Faust who is currently a member of Casey Chaos' side project SCUM and Italian industrial black metal band Aborym.
Despite Samoth being in a previous Emperor side project called Zyklon-B, the two are not related; Zyklon B is the name of a lethal gas, which was used by German Nazis in the extermination of Jews during World War II. "Zyklon" is, according to Samoth, a play on the word "cyclone".

[edit] Biography
Zyklon's debut album, entitled World ov Worms, was quite similar to that of Destructhor's band Myrkskog's album Deathmachine. The album was made up of extremely fast riffing and blast beats aided by the vocals of Daemon and lyrics written by Faust, formerly the drummer for Emperor. However, after this release, Zyklon changed. Secthdamon was brought to replace Cosmocrator, and Daemon was replaced by Secthdamon, even though Secthdamon had been drumming for Myrkskog. At this point the official line-up was Samoth, Trym Torson, Destructhor, and Secthdamon.
Zyklon's second album, Aeon, exposed the band to more media attention. The production on this album was much more clear and refined than the debut album. Videos were made for two tracks, "Core Solution" and "Psyklon Aeon".
The band's third effort, Disintegrate, was released on May 15, 2006 to great critical acclaim. Clocking at 45:06, Disintegrate is Zyklon's longest album, and was recorded from November to December 2005 at the Akkerhaugen Lydstudio in Norway.
In an interview with Metal Hammer magazine in 2008, guitarist Samoth announced the band were "well into" the process of completing their fourth full-length studio album. He said that "we've completed writing pretty much all [of] our songs and we'll be hitting the studios with Alec Cartio in late February early March this year".
[edit] Musical style
The first three studio albums saw Zyklon playing a combination of modern death metal with black and industrial undertones.[1] However, in recent interview with Kerrang! magazine, drummer Trym confirmed that the Industrial side which was present on the previous albums would not appear on the upcoming studio album. Instead, he said Zyklon will be taking a "groovier" approach to the original blackened death metal sound.
