Zweilütschinen

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zweilütschinen is a hamlet in the district of Interlaken (district) of the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. It gets its name because of the confluence of the two Lütschinen rivers, the White and the Black. It is about 4 miles south of Interlaken.

It houses the depot of the Berner Oberland Bahn. Trains from Interlaken divide equally at Zweilütschinen, the front portion goes forwards to Lauterbrunnen and the rear portion goes to Grindelwald, and conversely returning trains are coupled here. During the dividing of the trains there is not time to change to the other portion of the train.

Zweilütschinen is the second station south from Interlaken after Wilderswil where the Schynige Platte Railway departs.
