In 1985 he moved to the Zagreb club "Vjesnik". At the 1987 World Championship in New Delhi he won the silver medal together with Ilija Lupulesku, and repeated the success by winning the silver at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He also won the European Championship together with Lupulescu in Göteborg in 1990.

Primorac competed for Croatia at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and won the 9th place in singles and doubles. He repeated the same at the 1996 Summer Olympics, and at the 2004 Summer Olympics he was eliminated in the third round. In the 2002 European Championship held in Zagreb, he reached the semi- finals, only to lose to Kalinikos Kreanga of Greece 4-2. He again reached the semi- finals, but this time lost to he's former team- mate Jean- Michelle Saive. In the 2007 European championship in Belgrade he won the silver medal in the team event with Croatia, but lost in the first round in the singles. He plans to retire after the 2008 Olympic Games.

He currently uses specially-designed equipment made by Butterfly Table Tennis. He uses the Primorac Carbon blade, while using Sriver-EL rubber on both sides of his racket.
