[edit] Fictional character biography
Zor Prime was a clone of Zor, a Tirolian scientist that was the father of Robotechnology. The Robotech Masters created him in order to ascertain the location of the Protoculture Matrix, as well as to regain the lost secrets of the Flower of Life. They hoped to revive the original Zor's consciousness and memory patterns within the clone.
Unable to succeed, the Master use the clone as a Bioroid commander.
Zor had several skirmishes with Dana Sterling and the 15th ATAC (Armored Tactical Assault Corps). Unable to understand the actions of their human enemy, the Masters decided to use him as a spy and informant. They allowed him to be captured, after giving him a complete memory wipe.
Believing him to be a captured human soldier with amnesia, Zor is debriefed and then made a member of Dana's squad. He becomes a Hovertank pilot with the very same ATAC unit he had fought with previously. He falls in love with Dana, and that connection allows the original Zor's memories to resurface.
With the eventual return of Zor's memories, Zor Prime becomes tormented with the fact that his progenitor (and thus himself) is directly responsible for a series of terrible interstellar wars that eventually resulted in eventual genocide of original Tirolian race. (The Robotech Masters and their soldiers are all biogenetic clones.)
Determined to seek revenge on the Robotech Masters, and to end their threat to the human race, he sacrifices his own life to destroy the Robotech Masters' flagship. He hoped that the resulting explosion would destroy the Protoculture Matrix as well, making certain that its awesome power would never be misused again.
"This shall be my final gesture, my own sacrifice for the destruction my creation has caused throughout the galaxy. There is no other way. The destruction of this ship over the site of the original battlefortress is only way to make sure that the Protoculture Matrix is destroyed, before it brings the Invid to this planet. Now!": Zor Prime's final monologue, in Catastrophe
Unfortunately, his final sacrifice was in vain. The resulting explosion scatters the contents of the Matrix, the Flower of Life, over the surface of the planet, making an invasion by the Invid certain.
The eruption of the Flower was sensed by the Invid Regis, who proceeded to invade the Earth, thereby starting the Third Robotech War.
[edit] Adaptation of Seifriet Weiße
In Robotech, Seifriet Weiße of the anime The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross is adapted into Zor Prime. Unlike Zor, who, in the Robotech adaption is one of the Robotech Masters - to be precise, a Tirolian scientist - Seifriet Weiße is a human pilot who was captured and brainwashed by the Zor to become an informant. Other than this difference, Siefriet is the same as Zor. Like Robotech, he is recaptured by Lana Isavia (aka Nova Satori), and his memories are examined for clues into the Zor. Later, his human mind begins to conflict with his Zor brainwashing, and he is nearly driven insane. But instead of breaking down mentally, he decides to take revenge on the Zor for their violation of his mind.
The aborted series Robotech II The Sentinels also had a character who was clone of Zor named Rem. Due to licensing restrictions, Rem did not conspicuously resemble Seifreit.
