Zones of atlanta

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Atlanta, Georgia, there are 6 "patrol zones" (more commonly known as just "zones") which lie under the jurisdiction of the Field Operations Division of the Atlanta Police Department.[1] These zones were created by the APD in order to better serve the city of Atlanta by increasing the effiency of Police patrols. They are similar to the Wards of New Orleans in that many Atlantans refer to where they are from in the city by using the zone numbers; however, this practice is not as commonplace in Atlanta as it is in New Orleans. Some rappers from Atlanta have been known to state what zone they are from in their lyrics. Unlike the wards of New Orleans, the zones of Atlanta do not serve as political entities which further divide up the city into precincts.
