Zoltán Huszárik (May 14, 1931 - October 15, 1981) was an acclaimed Hungarian film director, working in both the experimental genre and making influential auteur films.
Huszárik was born in Domony, Hungary. His original intention was to become an artist. He made his first film, a 20-minute experimental short entitled Elégia (Elegy) after graduating from film school in 1965. After similar experimental works he directed his first feature Szindbád (Sinbad) in 1971 which have become one of the most acclaimed and influential Hungarian art films. His second - and last - feature film Csontváry (1980) was made a year before his early and tragic death. He committed suicide at the age of 50. His dauther, Kata Huszárik is an acclaimed actress.
