Zlatan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zlatan is a male given name of South-Slavic origin. It is typical for all the Zlatanics Slavic countries on the Balkans, namely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Macedonia and Serbia. The name is particularly common in Bosnia because it is ethnically neutral (i.e. it is shared by Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats). The name is derived from the South-Slavic word zlato - from the Old-Slavic *zolto (gold). The ancient form of the name is Zoltan, which is still preserved in some non-Slavic countries like Hungary.
The meaning of the name is simply Golden or He who is made of gold.
The female form of the name is Zlata which is very popular among the Bosniaks and also in Bulgaria.
