Description
English: Purchased from agent for estate of photographer, purchase including right to release for free use. Intent to post on wikipedia specifically stated and allowed. Photographed in 1950, this en:de Havilland Tiger Moth was built at Hatfield and exported in March of 1939 to the en:Wellington Aero Club as ZK-AGW, before becoming NZ703 of the en:RNZAF in September of that year. Sold to the Middle Districts Aero Club in 1946, when the tail was damaged. It was sold to Barr Brothers in early 1950 and converted to en:aerial topdressing as seen here, before being written off in accident at Waiuku on 07 November 1950. Aircraft Services Ltd, bought the remains for spares, however ? with the fuselage of en:New Zealand built ZK-ASG but the logs of the wings and substantial other material from ZK- AIO returned to topdressing in 1952 as ZK-BAZ. The aircraft crashed injuring pilot Stan Caldwell in en:Waimai Valley on 22 March 1953.
