RatYork

A tag has been placed on RatYork, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because it is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on Talk:RatYork. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thanks. Bart133 (t) (c) 18:06, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RatYork

I deleted it precisely for the reasons listed at the top of this page -- "it is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location." Cheers Dina 20:16, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

I think you are misunderstanding the purpose of Wikipedia articles. They are to describe things that already exist and are already notable. They are not to promote new things in the hopes that, because of the article, those things will become notable. There are many venues that both allow and encourage people like yourself to promote their work. Here at Wikipedia, when it comes to web comics, it is only those that have a large following, or are regarded as influential in some way, in short, the really important ones that get articles. Because of this, and the fact that there are so many web comics, with new ones being created each day, it is simply inevitable that only a small fraction of them will ever have articles on Wikipedia. The internet is a big place and everyone can have a slice of it to display their work. However, there is no need for Wikipedia articles to duplicate or describe every single thing available on the internet. See Wikipedia:Notability (web) for more information. [edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Ratyork7.gif

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ratyork7.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:31, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Ratyork7.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ratyork7.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 11:49, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
