Zirconyl chloride is also known as Dichlorooxozirconium, Zirconium Oxychloride and Basic Zirconium Chloride.
It is conveniently prepared by crystallization of an aqueous solution of zirconium chloride.
Octahydrate, tetragonal crystals from water. Crystals contain tetramers of the form[Zr4(OH)8(H2O)16]8+
[edit] Uses
Used to make other Zirconium compounds, to precipitate acid dyes; to prepare high quality pigment toners; to improve properties of color lakes. in deodorants; in antiperspirants; in cosmetics, textile, and grease additives; and as a chemical reagent[2]
