The result of the debate was PAGE MOVED to Zigeunerweisen (film) and disambiguation page created at main title. I got 76,700 hits for "Zigeunerweisen Sarasate" and 10,100 for "Zigeunerweisen Suzuki". They both seem significant enough to justify a dab page, and this way we don't need {{otheruses}} links on either article. -GTBacchus(talk) 20:03, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Requested move

Zigeunerweisen → Zigeunerweisen (movie) — In ja.wikipeida both Zigeunerweisen and Zigeunerweisen (movie) page exist. Former is written on the work of Sarasate work and later is written on the work of 鈴木清順(すずきせいじゅん SUZUKI Seizyun)Seijun Suzuki. Of cource the movie's name is based on the Sarasate's work. So the page for Sarasate's work should be made, and the name Zigeunerweisen should be used for this page. For additional evidence, Sarasate page links to Zigeunerweisen page. [edit] Survey

Add  # '''Support'''  or  # '''Oppose'''  on a new line in the appropriate section followed by a brief explanation, then sign your opinion using ~~~~.

[edit] Survey - Support votes

  1. Support — First and foremost, Sarasate's Zigeunerweisen and Carmen Fantasy are known worldwide. However, the contents of this article—the Japanese movie—is virtually unknown, and needs to be moved. Whatever goes in the parentheses should be fine; however, "movie" or "film" should be preferred over other words. --Endroit 07:49, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. Support Granted I know far more about classical music than movies, but the Sarasate piece has been recorded many times and is a well-known piece of virtuoso repitoire. ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ 12:39, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
Then write a stub on the musical piece and this move will be jusitified. —  AjaxSmack  06:18, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
OK, I just wrote the stub. Please move Zigeunerweisen (Sarasate)Zigeunerweisen after the proposed move is completed.--Endroit 10:09, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Survey - Oppose votes

  1. Oppose If it were to be moved it should be (film) not (movie). However, as there is no page dedicated to the record there is no reason to move this page, the link on Sarasate page can be changed. I plan to fill out this article at some point and should anyone throw together one for the record we can sort it out at that point. Even then, we're under no obligation to do it the same way as ja.wikipedia and this is a fairly important film, it was voted best film of the 80s by Japanese critics, I'm not sure how the record's notability stacks up these days. Doctor Sunshine 05:49, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

# Oppose for now, although the move should occur when this will actually conflict with something. If someone proposes to write a stub for the other work, I will change my vote. As the above poster states, it should be moved to (film) and not (movie). Dekimasu 09:46, 26 December 2006 (UTC) Remove objection per Endroit. Dekimasu 09:00, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

Add any additional comments:

Comment The fact Doctor Sunshine is calling what is a well known piece of classical music a "record" makes me think this comment should be tossed out on account of ignorence on exactly what is being discussed. But that's just me. (Note: This is no way an attack on Doctor Sunshine. It is a statement of that there is incorrect factual info stated that is likely weighing the opinion.) ♫ Melodia Chaconne ♫ 12:39, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

I referred to it as a record because I had just been reading about the Zigeunerweisen 78 rpm in the film, purely semantic slip. I could just as easily say everyone who hasn't heard of the film's vote should be struck based on ignorance. That said, when 2nd article is produced I won't fight the move. Although I wouldn't mind seeing some competing statistics if anyone feels the impulse to produce them, popularity-wise. Doctor Sunshine 07:32, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

  1. I agree to use the name Zigeunerweisen_(film) in stead of Zigeunerweisen_(movie).
  2. I am translating ja:Zigeunerweisen page to English, and I will upload that if all of you agree.
  3. I am searching how many pages should be linked to music and to film. Working meno is here.
  4. I will make links to music and film at those pages after making music page.
  5. Please wait. Thank you.
New stub for Zigeunerweisen (Sarasate)
I've created the stub for Zigeunerweisen (Sarasate). Please check for accuracy. Also, when the above move is completed, please move Zigeunerweisen (Sarasate)Zigeunerweisen also. Thank you very much.--Endroit 09:52, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Penpen0216, sorry I had to create the stub. But please carry on with your proposed changes. They will be valuable contributions.--Endroit 10:15, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. I did not notice such method. I will add a temporary translation.Penpen0216 17:14, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
