Just out of curiousity, anyone know the source of the legend "drunken Liu"? kt2 02:11, 6 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- Guoyu Cidian says that one of the first written records of the story was by Zhang Hua (張華) in Jin. It was, at that time already, used as a metaphor for excellent wine. So, to me, it sounds like some tavern's elaborate advertisement tool originally! The metaphor was later mentioned again by Zuo Si (左思), and then again by Xie Lingyun (謝靈運). ---Menchi 02:21, Aug 6, 2003 (UTC)
- Just did a google search on ("张华" + "刘元石") , this site [1] quoted from Zhang Hua's work that a Liu Yuanshi sold wine in a tavern amidst the mountains (Shanzhong 山中). Search on "左思" + "刘元石" and "谢灵运"+ "刘元石" did not yield any related articles. But the entry at Guoyu Cidian [2] countradicts it. Funny, seems like I need to have a look of the authentic work by Zhang Hua. kt2 02:54, 6 Aug 2003 (UTC)
