Zheng Tianshou

Zheng Tianshou (郑天寿) is a character in the Water Margin.

Zheng was from Suzhou, Zhexi. He was born with a pale complexion and had long beard, a lean body, and broad shoulders. Due to his fair complexion and handsome good looks, he was nicknamed 'Fair-skinned gentleman' (白面郎君).

Zheng was an expert in martial arts, having learnt since young. He travelled around the country, making friends with other extraordinary people. Once, Zheng passed by Qingfeng Mountain and had a fight with Wang Ying, in which neither emerged the victor. In the end, Yan Shun was impressed with Zheng's skills and invited Zheng to join his band, which Zheng agreed.

Another time, Song Jiang was captured by the Qingfeng bandits and they were about to kill him when Song sighed and revealed his identity by accident. Yan Shun recognised Song Jiang and immediately released him and begged Song for forgiveness. Since then, Song Jiang became fast friends with the Qingfeng bandit leaders. Then, Song Jiang was framed by Liu Gao and was being escorted as a prisoner along with Hua Rong to Qingzhou. On the way, they passed by Qingfeng Mountain, so the Qingfeng bandits attacked the guards and rescued the heroes. Song Jiang joined forces with the Qingfeng bandits and subdued Qin Ming and Huang Xin, then he led the Qingfeng bandits to Liangshan to join the band with him.

Zheng Tianshou became one of the leaders of the Liangshan infantry and 72 Earthly Warriors. After the heroes had obtained amnesty from the emperor, Zheng followed them on their campaigns against the Liao Tartars and southern rebels, making great contributions to the imperial court. During the Fang La campaign, Zheng was killed in the battle of Muzhou.
