Zhang Zhijian

Zhang Zhijian (born 1934 in Shanxi Province, Wenxi) is a militarian in the People's Republic of China. He joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army in 1951. In 1992 he rose to become the Deputy Commander of the PLA in the Beijing Military Region, he also served as the Political Commissar of the PLA in the Chengdu Military Region. He became a major general in 1988, lieutenant general in 1990 and general in 1998.
