Zhang Side

Zhang Side (1915-1944) was a soldier of the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China. Since 1934, he was one of Mao Zedong's security guards until his death in 1944 while saving fellow soldiers. He was posthumously honored by Chairman Mao and became an icon of self-sacrifice and noble character.
