    [edit] Japanese Flag scandal

It's very easy to find sources for this. Time Magazine [1], imdb [2], etc. etc. Removing a sourced section is vandalism. OhNoitsJamieTalk 07:38, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

The Hong Kong film award is the Chinese equivalent to an Academy Award, Bafta, Cesar, Goya or David Di Donatello...which she HAS NOT won.

    [edit] Re-organize Article

I was wondering if any of you would agree with me that this article could be re-organized. First of all, there's the problem with the lack of citations. You could probably find many sources from articles on Zhao Wei on zhaoweinetfamily.com

Secondly, I agree it looks pretty unbalanced, with the long list of awards. I think there should be more information about her early life and rise to prominence, as well as more details about her career, rather than a long list of awards and filmography (the filmography is necessary though, I suppose). Lulu288 00:44, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Agree! such as magazine poll result not worth to write here. And Best music video, best lyric..those are NOT for herself. Those award should goes with it's maker(creator). Meaningless award such as magazine poll should be removed. None of other actresses and actors wrote them as their lists. User:Sasalala 07:30, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] References

There is a serious lack of citations in many areas of this article, esp. the awards section. I attempted to add citations in all of the areas, but the awards section is particularly long. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help with that by finding Zhao Wei articles as sources. The discography section could also use some citations and maybe a little more length? [edit] The Awards Section

Yes, the awards section...besides the lack of citations, I was wondering what all of your opinions were on whether or not we should remove the awards section all together. I was thinking that instead of having one long list (which looks somewhat sloppy). If you look at Featured Articles, such as Angelina Jolie, the awards are not listed out, but spread throughout the article. For example, in the "other notes" section of the filmography, we could include awards Zhao Wei won for her role in that film. And we could comment on her awards in her "career"...

So what do you all think? Keep the section or spread the information throughout the article? Lulu288 23:50, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] More Photos

I think this article needs more photos...first of all, a photo in the infobox would be helpful, and also some pics of her on magazines, etc. Lulu288 01:31, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

    [edit] GA nomination

I have passed this article as a GA under the GA Criteria. However, I should point out that is was a close call - although I could find no obvious failures from the GA Criteria (WP:GA?), my opinion is that the article is unpleasant to the eye (particularly after the introductory paragraph) and that it needs to be tidied up. Otherwise, not bad and well done to the main editors! Regards, Anthonycfc [TC] 16:28, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Zhaowei-piao.jpg

Image:Zhaowei-piao.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

    [edit] GA Delisting

In order to uphold the quality of Wikipedia:Good articles, all articles listed as Good articles are being reviewed against the GA criteria as part of the GA project quality task force. While all the hard work that has gone into this article is appreciated, unfortunately, as of January 15,

2008, this article fails to satisfy the criteria, as detailed below. For that reason, the article has been delisted from WP:GA. However, if improvements are made bringing the article up to standards, the article may be nominated at WP:GAN. If you feel this decision has been made in error, you may seek remediation at WP:GAR.

    1. The tone of this article is poor and unencyclopedic in some sections. The biggest problem is the present tense verbs when discussing the past. An example from "Rise to prominence, 1998-2002": "However, Zhao feels her role in Shaolin Soccer was also a learning experience for her." This is tied directly to the fact that too many direct quotes are used — when her own words are not important, and the idea can be summed up (and in many cases it can, as it has been done immediately before the quote), the direct quotes should be removed — they are to be used sparingly. Overall, the prose overall needs some work and a proper copyedit
    2. Some statements require citations:
"Zhao's performance received critical acclaim in Taiwan as well; Zhao was named as one of Taiwan's "Top Ten Most Outstanding Individuals in Television Industry." Following this, she continually to star in a number of successful television series and movies and released a number of well-sold albums." (Rise to prominence, 1998-2002)
"The film, directed by Corey Yuen, was relatively successful, mostly because of its three female leads." (Rise to prominence, 1998-2002) Reads like speculation or original research without a cite.
"Critics and magazines regularly rate Zhao as one of the most successful actresses in the contemporary Chinese acting industry." (Stardom, 2003-present) Speculative, OR or non-NPOV without a cite
"In 2006, Zhao took an exam for a Masters' class in directing at her alma mater, Beijing Film Academy. After passing with flying colors, Zhao returned to Beijing Film Academy in September 2006 as a graduate student in the Directing Department. Currently, she is studying under the instruction of the famed director Tian Zhuangzhuang." (Stardom, 2003-present) The only time "passing with flying colors" should be used on Wikipedia is if we started an article on flying colors.
"Because of this, the media criticized Zhao as the "bane of the box office", or "box office poison."" (Rumours and controversy) Direct quotes require direct citations
"Zhao was awarded the "Stylish Female Singer and Stylish Actress" at the China Fashion Award (CFA) in 2005." (Commercial work)
    3. "Stardom, 2003-present" is not a very neutral heading title
    4. All one-two sentence paragraphs should be either expanded or merged with the surrounding paragraphs, as they detract from the prose and disrupt from the flow
    5. The lead does not effectively meet WP:LEAD's requirements that the lead adequately summarize all major points/headings made in the body of the article. As just one example, there's little, if anything, on the "Personal life" section.
