[edit] Wings of Light

Just to make things clear, the Freedom does NOT posses "Wings of Light", period. Unless it is officially announced, it is a fan rumor only. None of this frame-by-frame garbage about "well if you look at x time in x eps..." FearTheReaper 15:06, 2 August 2005 (UTC)

Update:

Just to make things clear, the final episode of DESTINY DOES NOT prove the existence of WOL on the Freedom, the light you see is for visual effect only, nothing else. FearTheReaper 20:58, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

Maybe it's true it doesn't possess the "Wings of Light", but at least from episode 42 onwards, within the theme song it features Strike Freedom Gundam firing all the Super DRAGOON with wing aura ON. Anybody noticed? - Kelvin 1:03, 24 July, 2006

I believe there was some discussion from someone involved in the Stargazer shorts about linking the technologies in the Stagazer to the Strike Freedom and Destiny, its actually in the trivia section. Perhaps some more research into that statement would put the entire matter to rest? Someone also added the statement back about the visual effect from of the thrusters, which I feel deserves to be there. In the new Destiny Specials the wing effects are significantly more prominent. (Onehotalchemist 22:44, 17 December 2006 (UTC))

Onehotalchemist, the recent Stargazer model kit manual confirms that both the Destiny and the Strike Freedom use a derivative of the Voiture Lumiere system.

[edit] Actual Producer

As neither official anime source or the NG model kit had shown manufacteurer, I am changing the manufacteurer with a question mark (some even argue that the Clyne faction themselves develop it). However, someone do translate the following: [1] anyway, anything that's on the model kit IS official, and if any was unchanged, I will add that on.

-It might be made by the Clyne Faction after all. This was (supposedly) translated from a magazine (This one: http://www.bk1.co.jp/product/2566632), but there are no scans of the text...yet...:

After the previous war ended, the gap in the relationship between Coordinators and Naturals remained deep, and could worsen again anytime. To prepare for unforeseen events, Lacus as well as her supporters in PLANTs, the Clyne Faction, decided to hide the existence of Eternal. At the same time, they began the development of new Mobile Suits. Because of the nuclear weaponry ban by Junius accord, the nuclear engine equipped Freedom maintains unshakable superiority even after the war. However, there's no guarantee that things enough to threaten it will not appear. Trying to stop the threat when it comes knocking on the doors will already be too late. Thus, it is absolutely neccessary for Lacus and Co. to independently develop high performance MS.

More: http://img11.echo.cx/img11/38/bigger8nq.jpg

According to the bottom right hand description, there will be a total of 5 (yes, FIVE) Destroy units to be deployed at Heaven's Base...

Also, it's now official that S-Freedom is Clyne Faction made (Lacus had it developed for Kira's use.)

You know, may be we should move the Strike Gundam, Infinite Justice, and DOM Trooper out of ZAFT and place it under Orb, since unlike the Justice and Freedom, it have no official involvement with teh ZAFT this time (in fact, probably just borrowed the personels)

[edit] Gold Joints

The GOLD JOINTS do not aid the engines. IF THEY DO, PROVE IT!!! - Plau

It's a fan rumor that refuses to die. But fan rumors aren't encyclopedic info, so they need to stay out of these articles. Same thing about the "Nu Freedom" name. That was a fan rumor, not a planned name that was dropped. 68.47.175.214 15:37, 19 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] "Nu-Freedom"

Strike Freedom was never going to be called Nu-Freedom. That was a fan rumor. 68.47.175.214 16:32, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] "Freedom" class

Since the Gundam Seed meta-series is to be set as a trilogy, and given the existence of the ZGMF-X10A Freedom before it, it can be speculated that the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom is only the second of the "Freedom" class of mobile suits, much like the RX-78-2 Gundam being the second in the series of mobile suits in the original V Project. --Pfalcone 01:16, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

Well, nobody known if another Freedom will appear in third serie (which I hope not). L-Zwei 14:17, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

It's still not even sure whether there'll be a sequel to Gundam SEED DESTINY, Bandai is only looking into whether or not they can make enough money from a sequel. Personally, I wouldn't mind a Freedom Mk. III, as long as it drops the, in my humble oppinion, LAME DRAGOON system. --Tuderen 23:01, 10 September 2005 (UTC)

It's already confirmed that there would be a third installment to the CE timeline (as of December 2005)

Seeing as the Strike Freedom wasn't damaged at the end of SEED Destiny, it is unlikely that a 3rd Freedom will be built (unless they recycle the "Freedom gets destroyed and Kira gets new one" thing for the new installment).

[edit] "Prominence Attack"

Saw the new info... Where is it mentioned? What is the source of this info? --WarpObscura 11:56, 7 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] "Misc"

Yes, the Super DRAGOON is confirmed:

  Regarding Strike Freedom's weaponry...

Plamoya-san's Useless Diary lists additional armaments taken from the 1/144 Collection Series Strike Freedom description:

Official name: EQFU-3X Super DRAGOON mobile weapon wings

Armament: MA08V Beam Assault Cannon x 1

Note: The model number given for the DRAGOON is similar to the Chaos Gundam's EQFU-5X mobile weapon pods.

I'll also add that this same site is known amongst rumormongers for breaking news about the Super Freedom->Strike Freedom name change a few days before it was announced on the official site. 12.175.44.208 23:47, 15 Jun 2005

  • That's still not an official source. Unless and until the rumor is confirmed, don't put it on this profile. 68.47.175.214 03:20, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Here's your official proof:

http://img201.echo.cx/my.php?image=8280343ez.jpg http://img191.echo.cx/img191/4261/freedom2er.jpg

But, from looking at its assembly guide, it doesn't even show the EQFU-3X. Its only mentioned in the above pictures...strange. Well, it is a no-grade model, after all... 12.175.44.208 21:48, 16 Jun 2005

  • Okay, that's official enough for me. But I don't see anything on that picture about a "MA08V Beam Assault Cannon" on the DRAGOONs, or anything about how many there are (Are all 8 wing pieces DRAGOONs, or only some of them? Even the blog entry doesn't answer that question.), so for now I'm listing the number of DRAGOONs and their weapons as unknown. 68.47.175.214 05:15, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Found proof. Changing DRAGOON bits to 8:

[edit] Gundam SEED Destiny's total protagonist switch

The series was arguably meant to have Shinn and the Destiny/Impulse be the main characters of the show, but anyone who has seen it can safely say that Kira and Strike Freedom completely take this over by the end of the series. I was wondering, was this because of fan demand (since Shinn was an almost universally hated character amongst english speaking and japanese speaking fans alike) or was this series completely animated before it even aired? I know sometimes some series' are animated on the go, and sometimes they're completely made before it airs. What was the case here exactly?

I ask because it was just such a drastic, and sudden shift in focus from Shinn to Kira. I know Kira and Strike Freedom were by far the fan favorites.--Kiyosuki 23:29, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

It was being produced as the series was on-going, I believe. Post-series, several people from the production staff complained about the constant rewrites and late scripts. I will also remind you that Shinn places fairly well in popularity polls, Destiny Gundam merchandise seems to be fairly consistently out-selling Strike-Freedom merchandise, and Fukuda and morosawa both say Shinn is the main character. ~H

For popularity polls, in Japan, although still in best 10, AFAIK, for most time always Kira and Athrun (both being 1st and 2nd). I don't know in another areas. Still for 6 months currently, I always see Kira in the first place on the Japanese's poll. Draconins 14:35, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

Shinn is only "universally hated" by the less 'hardcore' fans. Most of the older/more experienced fanbase support and like him.

Not really. The older fan may don't like him (due to his behaviour), but still think he deserve the role of main character.L-Zwei 05:53, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Would anybody mind...

If I worked over the article a bit to make it flow better and to address some issues which are in contention (or confusing) among fandom? Evoluder Guy 18:13, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About The Reactor: Hyperdeuterion or Nuclear

Errr It seems already an edit wars occured in this matter (including me), So please discuss it here.... It is said by Morita-san, SF use Hyperdeuterion. I never found any fact cancel it. Draconins 08:59, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

It does use a hyper-deuterion nuclear reactor, as said by Morita. And why are people bringing up the Junius Treaty? That thing was void ever since the EA lobbed nuclear weapons at PLANT. Besides that, Destiny already breaks the treaty by spewing Mirage Colloid particles all over the battlefield with its Wings of Light. Unless you have specific evidence otherwise, both Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice uses an hyper-deuterion nuclear reactor. DarkWarrior 13:48, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

check the OS(operating systems) of all the Hyper duterion equpped gundams there is absolutely no difference between justice and infinite justice's OS and neither to freesom and SF.--Spartan117009 00:57, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

MAHQ states that both the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom and the ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice use the Hyper-Deuterion reactor - Plau 05:02, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

yes and at a guess maybe they have the Hyper duterion batery for a backup power system incase whatever happened to freedom has to happen again.--Spartan117009 20:01, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] GSD Most powerful MSes

I can't find any reason for why deleting Legend's existence between the most powerful suits, No one can say that Legend is weaker than other suits that appeared in C.E 74, It's clear that Destiny is Zaft's best MS and Legend is the second but that doesn't mean it's weaker than others, If anyone have any reason for why we can't say that Legend is one of the four strongest mses then say it here, Also I want to point that Shiranui Akatsuki is far one of the most strongest suits in GSD. It might be like this:

"Strike Freedom in one of the 5 most strongest suits in GSD others are(Destiny, Infinite Justice, Legend, Shiranui Akatsuki)"

Keep in your mind by not adding Legend means that Legend isn't as good as Strike Freedom and so Kira beats a weak less better ms and so, While in the show it was a very hard battle, Considiring without these last words of kira, legend and rey will still fight and so, why legend isn't one of the best suits?Astrys 05:40, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

I just think we should delete the strongest MS part from every articles.L-Zwei 11:59, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Seconded. It's speculation, correct or not. The most that should be found are stats such as armament, weight, speed, etc. --Wirbelwindヴィルヴェルヴィント (talk) 22:10, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Good, So someone must go and delete the part about "strongest mses" or adding akatsuki and legend to it, It's useless and have nothing to do to improve the article.
Wow, I found this on english official site, for Freedom though:

The legendary mobile suit used by Kira Yamato in the last stages of the previous war. Although the Freedom Gundam was heavily damaged in the second Battle of Jachin Due, it was repaired after the end of the war and stored in a secret hangar within Orb territory, in case Kira might need it again. Due to the restrictions of the Junius Treaty, none of the mobile suits currently used by ZAFT and the Earth Alliance are equipped with nuclear engines, so the Freedom's effectively unlimited energy supply gives it a tremendous advantage. Together with the remarkable skill of its pilot, this makes the Freedom perhaps the most powerful machine in existence.

Official Profile for Freedom in Gundam Seed Destiny

When I found this, I am rather shocked. And so? Draconins 13:01, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
So what?, This is another joke and nonsense that always come from Bandai, Also that's Freedom not Strike Freedom and these words are clearly wrong(the series is the best evidence).
Also in Destiny Gundam model kit instruction for 1/144 or 1/100 it says things like (Destiny is maybe the strongest ms). These are jokes and nonsense from bandai and can't be a solid evidence rather it's just to satisfy fans.Astrys 00:09, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
I am just amazed that it is written there, and it is a reference. Actually, if you go to Japanese official site (Sunrise's GSD official site), you would find same kind of explanation in SF part. You said that you could use Japanese, why don't you try to go to [2]. Here, what is written:

更なる混迷する情勢を打開すべく開発された最後の切り札。新型エンジンの搭載などによりフリーダムの数倍の戦闘能力を持つ。背中の羽根は分離し、無線用誘導による攻撃が可能なドラグーンとなっている。腹部の大型ビーム砲、二丁のライフルを連結させて使用するなどその攻撃力は驚異的である。パイロットはキラ・ヤマト。

Japanese official profile for Orbs/Archangel/Eternal in Gundam SEED Destiny

Another crazy statement, eh? ^^ Draconins
Fine, really that's another nonsense from those liars, But don't tell me that you believe them, beacause who really believes that nonsesnse + those idiots bandai guys need to re-watch the series again, this place isn't for bashing and discussing about who is better but the series is the best evidence and what we saw in ep42,43,50 is enough, If they really claim that Freedom and SF are the best(because Kira is the pilot) then why they let freedom be defeated by an inferior ms or why did Legend and Destiny survived all that long against that so-called best ms or why he didn't blow both mses by one shot, why he wasn't able to defeate Destiny after it lost it's best melee weapon(considering that the battle was turned to a Long range vs Long range and SF is the master of this type of weapons), why did legend take all that time against SF in ep50(they were totally equalled) and without that last word Kira wont defeate him?.
You appear to have missed several things. The official site says the Freedom is 'perhaps the most powerful'. Note there's a qualifier. Also, it doesn't say that it's the most powerful merely because of who the pilot is, that is only one component. Also note that being the most powerful do not mean it cannot lose, look at real miltary technology or the series itself. For example, I presume you'd agree that the Destiny or the Legend is radically more powerful than a GOUF, yet the Destiny and the Legend combined didn't destroy Athrun's GOUF 'in one shot'. Sting had a better mobile suit, the Chaos, than the Murasames he faced, but he was brought down by numbers. Shinn beat Kira because Kira was holding back (and he wasn't), Shinn had studied Kira's actions (and Kira hadn't studied Shinn, and Shinn had a plan (while Kira didn't}. Like Sun Tzu said - 'know your enemy and know yourself and you will not be defeated'.Edward321 00:26, 3 January 2007 (UTC)
Destiny and Legend are far more better than a Gouf but the pilot was a main character and always if a main character piloted a grunt ms he wont be defeated very easy like faceless and normal weak pilots, Also you just ignored how Shinn wasn't trying to destroy Athrun from the start, he was firing at him and shouting (return to the base),then Athrun and Rey start talking until they confused Shinn until he goes into SEED to Kill Athrun, But your words maybe means that you think Destiny and legend aren't able to destroy Athrun's Gouf easily but really if Shinn focused on fighting from the start he would kill Athrun in 5sec or maybe less, Sting is really a weak pilot and I'm not surprised that Mursames beat him, but about Kira holding back that was right in the first half of the battle but in the second half he started fighting as usual and that's not why Shinn was able to defeat him like what all of Kira fanboys think, Yeah...Shinn studied Kira's actions and prepared that plan but it wasn't the only reason for Shinn to win rather it was also the skill of Shinn which is required to make the plan effecient because million plan without high skill to do it would be useless with no value, and it's clear that you beleive that strike freedom or freedom are the most powerful units, so why not tell me a special thing that Strike freedom or freedom has to make it powerul than other mses like Destiny, Legend, Infinite Justice, because really saying that Freedom or S Freedom are the most powerful without any solid proof is rather nonsense came from who say it.Astrys 21:59, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, But these things are just to satisfy Kira fans and just which is nothing more than nonsense.Astrys 22:58, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
    • While i don't like how Bandai seem to has bias toward Kira, claim that series is more accurate is equally nonsense. Fanboy is bad,no matter it's Kira's or Shinn's. L-Zwei 04:28, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
I don't like thier bias even more than you, But I didn't claimed that the series is more accurate it's even more crappy and full of nonsesnse, biases and everyone knew it even Kira and Athrun fans but many of them like to deny, But the idea is if we don't have an official evidence to judge about GSD events or anything else on what we will depend? I know how bandai will try in any way to add more biases in order to make the all beleive that Kira is a jesus and Freedom is the best but...we are useless against bandai, Believe me or not I Started to like C.E at the start but after the end of Destiny I start hating it because there are a lot of bad things (similarities in the storyline of Seed and Destiny, Shifting the story from Shinn to kira, a lot of biases to Orb pilots, the last battle happened without any reason of it,...) and after I saw how Lacus will be the next Chairman and Kira is wearing a white uniform I started thinking that more biases will happen in a next series then realized that C.E is a failure timeline and a disgrace to gundam.Astrys 11:05, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Just out of curiousity, what exactly is the point of arguing over whether or not Kira fought Shinn 'seriously'? The ability of the pilot has nothing to do with the power of the Freedom does it? Anyway, for my lightning rod statement, I'd like to point out that Athrun completely toasted Shinn when he finally goes SEED and they theoretically fight at an equal level. Durandal himself admits to both Athrun and Shinn that Kira was the best MS pilot (a comment that caused Shinn to flinch) Oh and correct me if I'm horribly mistaken but whatever Bandai says about an MS should be considered more relevant than anything short of the series creator's comments right? I mean, they own the franchise after all (Sunrise is part of Bandai, unless the world changed overnight and no one told me) Calling them 'idiots' because they supposedly don't understand their own intellectual property is like arguing that Tolkien doesn't understand Frodo or that Lucas doesn't know Star Wars. Oh well...that's just my $0.02. PS: I like Kira. Don't make fun of Kira! =( And watch the fight again; Shinn and Rey know that Kira always makes an extra effort to avoid vital points so at the climax of the fight, Shinn lets Kira shoot the head of the Impulse off while he goes straight for the Freedom's cockpit. I'm pretty sure that if Kira had been a little brat with a massive inferiority complex like Shinn, he would have gone for the cockpit too and Athrun wouldn't have had to go all emo on Shinn. kthxbai.

[edit] Major Changes

Well, I have tried to improve ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam in my spare time, however since it is major (and probably highly controversial) changes, I decide to make it to my userspace first, see User:Draconins/ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam. I do major rewrite and try to conform known policies. Please see it, your suggestions and improvements always welcome. Hopefully, it may become featured article to show to the deletionists. (^^) Draconins 12:34, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Nobody objects my rewrite for two days, so I moved it here. Draconins 12:54, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Freedom Destroyed?

In the Triva its says "the Freedom was destroyed by Rau Le Creuset at the Second Battle of Jachin Due." I think this should be removed or edit seeing that the Freedom was not destroyed but heavily damage. Justix-nl 08:30, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kira's Sister?

In the second pragraph at the "In Service" part it says that cagalli is kira's sister. i think that should be removed out since we know thats false.(Kaiba21 21:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC))

  • No, we known it's true. She's kira's sister. Love scene between sibling isn't uncommon in anime, and you not even need to watch incest hentai for such scene. L-Zwei 06:02, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
  • thanx for the correction, i really didn't watch that much of gundam seed, im more of a gundam seed destiny person(Kaiba21 22:27, 3 June 2007 (UTC))
