[edit] This Article Needs work

This article is filled with inaccuracy, bias, spelling and grammar errors. It needs to be severely restructured and the bias for and against the company needs to be removed. This is not the first time and I doubt it will be the last time that this article will suffer from problems of people who either hate or love the service. Neither side can seem to write an objective article. Those with personal grudges have misquoted and made up quotes from Staff and they have carefully advertised other services within the article. This article was merged because it looked too much like an advertisement in the past. Either delete it for good or someone clean it up. Yodaminch (talk) 21:20, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why this article shouldn't be deleted

I think that this article should not be deleted because it was not created for the perpose of advertising - Titan602 20:05, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Things added and edited

  • Added infobox
  • Changed the introduction

[edit] WE NEED MORE REFERENCES

WE NEED MORE REFERENCES so that the article doesn't get deleted! - Titan602 16:07, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Beginning

Oh thanks you made improvements! I copied some stuff from the InvisionFree article and put it in a ZetaBoards article, but I couldn't figure out how to move it to the right place. I can see you even got a screenshot. But quit asking for ACP screenshots. I assure you they won't give them to you. ^_^ And, by the way, what's up with all the editing you did to the screenshot? There's no black line at the top. You're tampering with Nicola's skinning, Jrdaigle1000 22:34, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

It's not "tampering" with the skin exactly; the black box is obviously to black out the name of the user, thereby ensuring they don't receive undue criticism or contact on the Beta board. It's perfectly legit; a lot of people blank out their usernames or links in screenshots to protect their privacy. Anyone viewing it should be able to see it's not part of the skin as the Welcome --- [Sign Out] text would suggest.--Emperor Wu 01:12, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

If you want, I can provide a screenshot with no editing (aside from removing the Windows taskbar). I get stupid messages there as it is. If I get more stupid questions, I can answer them.Jrdaigle1000

The black box is hiding MY name. it was made my me! Titan602 08:49, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion for the Introduction/begining?
I noticed the want for a clearer more encyclopedic introduction, so i has a quick go at putting one together (which was surprisingly hard and i think i may have failed at it.. and majorly overused the word "software" anyway). As im not actually particularly well read up on the subject, i though it was probably best to post here so people more knowledgeable could look over it, correct the information, improve it, and maybe use it if it were any good or of any use at all.

" ZetaBoards created by Zathyus Networks is a new forum software designed for use on invisionfree's new remotely hosted forum service. The new software replaces the Invision Power Board software currently used on invisionfree allowing the new service to contain addition functionality as well as break away from the reliance on invison power bored's software. The ZetaBoards software has been written from scratch and has no ties to Invision Power Board.

The new service was announced with its name by Brandon Kopetzky, owner of InvisionFree on March 23rd, 2006 and opened to public testing On January the 21st 2007. "

[edit] Features list?

Somehow I think we can add more to it. We discover new features every day. Jrdaigle1000 22:55, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I agree! Add more features imediatly when you find them! Titan602 08:45, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Beta 3 Rumor

Should we mention that rumors have been buzzing about that Beta 3 is coming soon? Ya' know, the new bug report forum for ACP bugs? (and the fact that the ACP login screen has been re-skinned)The rumor topic got 36 replies in 31 minutes.Jrdaigle1000 23:23, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Add the rumour in a ===Beta 3=== tag under Beta Status! - Titan602 13:20, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Okay, done. Jrdaigle1000 20:57, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Screenshots

Talk about screenshots here: Should we put one for each skin? - MaxLeep 00:24, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I'm on it. Okay, never mind, I don't know much about adding images. You can use these if you know how. I have screenshots of the three themes and a screenshot of a post. Zeta Original: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/177/400243532_b8bce46b9a_o.jpg

They could in a gallery, but in png format - Titan602 08:48, 24 February 2007 (UTC) I added them. There is no need for this discussion anymore! - Titan602 13:22, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Newlyweds skin

I added mention of the Newlyweds skin on the Skins part of the article. Would anyone be willing to provide a screenshot? Jrdaigle1000 13:16, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

I would get the screenshot but I don't think it's necessary! - Titan602 16:07, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] For the criticisms section...

I think someone should add the whole thing about it taking a lot longer than expected. --StormCommander 16:19, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion

I object to the deletion of this article as ZetaBoards is far too important to not have a Wikipedia article. --Jrdaigle1000 21:38, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

It isn't because it's non-notable, it's because it was written badly. Example:

"...a built in skin selector allowing you to add up to 32 skins. Three custom skins created by Nicola with images by Valleri which are..."

Nicola who? Who's Valleri? You can't just use names without explaining who they are. I improved this slightly by adding external links yesterday but still the article could use lots of expansion (and improvement), deletion then a fresh start, or a complete rewrite. --Lugiatm (talk contribs) 15:52, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

It says on the deletion box thingy that if you at all object to the article's deletion, remove the box. I will do so in a couple of days if no one actually comments here saying they want it deleted. As I said earlier, ZB is too important to lack a Wikipedia article. Sure this article needs cleanup, but it's like the ZetaBoards software this article is about, a work in progress. --Jrdaigle1000 12:58, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

I ask people what is wrong with it but all they say is "It's wrong" but why is it wrong and where? - Titan602 16:21, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Personally i support deletion on the grounds that it's very poorly written and just needs a complete rehaul. --BF 07 19:41, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Someone has (thank god) fixed it. I think it's fine now! - Titan602 19:50, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Proposing to delete an entire article because some of it is written bad is true lunacy. --StormCommander 22:49, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Proposing to delete an entire article because some of it is written bad is true lunacy.

"Some of it"? The whole thing is pathetically written. No true effort was put into this article at all. The spelling, conformity, grammar, and everything about it is pathetic. It's an article that was created on //rumours// for christ's sake.

[edit] Zathyus Networks article

I started it, but that's pretty much as far as I got. So we'll need to work on that one too. --StormCommander 22:59, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

Don't create an article on something you know nothing about. Zathyus Networks is the parent company for copyright purposes. Please, inform us all of what exactly you intend to put in this article. 172.189.251.149 22:14, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Problems with article

I'm not sure why but the Testing, Updates and External Links sections habe been screwed up... cutting off in sentences, broken HTML and sections being moved past the references section. --Lugiatm (talk contribs) 08:14, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I know why and fixed it. It was a reference belive it or not! Instead of <ref></ref>, it was <ref></ref) so I fixed it back to how it should be! - Titan602 15:56, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External links.

The External links that do not link to any place reverent to the article nor are official parts of Invisionfree/Zetaboards should be removed since it is clearly advertising, (Invisionfree Skins and Zetaboards themes)

[edit] HELP!!!!

My board is screwed up, since like today or yesterday my board has automatically switched down to the stats, well my boartd doesn't have stats, I reomved the <% STATS %> because it showed up as text, yet even though I removed it from the wrappers, it still shows up (thanks god). but why does it always center on the stats, like when u go to the index or refresh the page. here is my url: www.ssfree.net.tc/

THIS IS NOT A AD, THIS IS ME NEEDING HELP AND SINCE ZETABOARDS IS GAY AND IT DOESN'T SEND THE ZETABORDS VALIDATION EMAIL.--Xgmx (talk) 07:03, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV violations abound

Small numbers of people have moved away from ZetaBoards and InvisionFree purely because ZetaBoards was not what they wanted it to be.

Just one example, mind you. I just found that one to be very biased towards the service(s) in question. "purely because ZetaBoards was not what they wanted it to be." What is that about, really? That's certainly someone's point of view, and thus violates Wikipedia's NPOV policy. I feel like this article is a likely candidate for deletion if it doesn't undergo a massive rewrite. -Motley a b c qu 19:00, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Objection to deletion

I do not feel that this article should be deleted. It is a completely different forum host than Invisionfree, and is not relevent enough with it to be completely merged. This article does need work, but I don't feel that it should be deleted.

Not sure if it's relevent or not, but Zetaboards was hacked recently by some group of hackers. Does anyone know if Zetaboard forums will be effected, and if there is a back-up of the site? Storm39 (talk) 00:10, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re-written

I noticed the problems mentioned and so editted the article.

-Restructured the whole article -Changed grammar errors and sentances which made little or no sense at all. -Removed feature list as its limited and linked to the full lists. -Removed documentation section, don't think its important enough. -Removed sneaky little external links to an unofficial site. -Removed comparing to other software it was a person's opinion. -Removed browser compatibility as it wasn't referenced to the original table mentioned... -Added to criticism

[edit] Zetaboards down

All links leading to Zetaboards have been dead for the last two days. Jeffrywith1e (talk) 13:24, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Two days? I could access mine this morning (12 am)!!! WHAT IS GOING ON?!?! --HoopoeBaijiKite 15:37, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Possible update:
From Doug Erwin:
This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.
We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.
This is a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers. All members of our support team are in, and all vendors who supply us with data center equipment are on site. Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday. Rest assured we are working around the clock.
We are in the process of communicating with all affected customers. we are planning to post updates every hour via our forum and in our customer portal. Our interactive voice response system is updating customers as well.
There is no impact in any of our other five data centers.
I am sorry that this accident has occurred and I apologize for the impact. [1] Jeffrywith1e (talk) 17:14, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Looks like they're back. Jeffrywith1e (talk) 23:43, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

now, it's again down... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.219.172.154 (talk) 17:49, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Last Section

Somebody, not myself because I'm unsure how to edit properly, really should edit the "Sever Damge" Section. It is just a letter put out by the Zeta team. As a matter of fact, the whole article sounds like it was written by the owners of Zetaboards or some idiotic fanboy. (Phillip Shaw (talk) 22:23, 1 June 2008 (UTC))

-It wasn't a letter put out by the ZB team, it was a post made by the datacentre on their forum.... Anyhow, I'm removing that section. The article has criticism on it, what do you suggest removing/adding then? Partybot3000 (talk) 17:30, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
