Zent Out of Shape

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Zent Out of Shape" is the forty-third sub-episode of Tom and Jerry Tales.

[edit] Episode summary

Tom is a Buddhist monk who tries to achieve inner peace through silent meditation, a sand garden, and a bonsai tree. Jerry, however, repeatedly disturbs Tom's quest for serenity by playing a flute and drum loudly. Their fighting awakens a cranky kraken (with Spike's face) from the ocean depths. However, the creature loves Jerry's music, and wants to dance with Tom (who seems to be debating if this is preferable to being eaten) far into the night.

[edit] Notes

  • The ending is reminiscent of 1956's Down Beat Bear, which also ends with Tom dancing all night with a music-loving behemoth.
  • The coming of the kraken from the water recalls Godzilla, perhaps owing to the Asian setting of the picture (though he is Japanese, not Chinese).
