[edit] Image:Zenopus.mailme.png listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Zenopus.mailme.png has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it, but use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Zenopus 00:48, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

I cannot find anything in the wikipedia image licensing that caters for this kind of image?

I have no influence on the licensing set out by the Image Creation Tool Copyright holder, but using the image in the context of wikipedia is clearly allowed.

The image is clearly of no use to anyone else, I would consider it part of my user profile.

[edit] Moved from userpage

I would like to upload this but the licensing restrictions of wikipedia do not allow that.
I would like to make this an embedded image, but that is only possible for uploaded images.

As far as I know, an unencyclopedic image cannot be displayed in a userpage. As an alternative, you could include a link to email you (Special:Emailuser/Zenopus) instead of an image. --Daniel Olsen 21:04, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

That defeats the purpose of the experiment - to determine if anyone would go to the trouble of "manually" harvesting an email address from an image on a user profile page on wikipedia. Or rather how long it will take before that happens. Zenopus 21:08, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Law Lord on Danish wikipedia

Don't worry, his antics have been under hefty discussion by admins and others. It appears his blacklisting has just landed him a block. By the way, he has also been in the media in Denmark, after he set up a webpage with photos of people committing misdemeanors (like littering or minimal traffic violations).
