[edit] Distribution

This species is endemic to Stewart Island, and the southern parts of the South Island, of New Zealand.

[edit] Habitat

This species lives at depths of from shallow water to about 130 m. The empty shells are often washed ashore in great numbers on the eastern sandy beaches of Stewart Island.

[edit] Shell description

The shell is small, rather slender, with lightly convex spire whorls, and a rounded periphery to the body whorl. The spire whorls are sculptured with three thick, rounded, equally spaced spiral cords. The surface is otherwise smooth, except for a few weak spiral threads between the cords over the body whorl and on the base.

The shell coloration is uniformly dull white to pale buff.

The shell height is up to 17 mm, and the width is up to 6 mm.
