The M85/M90 is a modern assault rifle developed and manufactured by Zastava Arms of Kragujevac, Republic of Serbia. The M85/M90 is designed on the basis of famous Kalashnikov rifles from Russia the most durable and reliable assault rifle ever designed.

Members of the family were tested in numerous wars fought on all continents and in extreme conditions.

The Zastava M85/M90 rifles chamber and fire the 5.56x45mm NATO round.

It is gas-operated, air-cooled, magazine-fed, selective fire firearm with a fixed or folding stock.

In serial production, Zastava Arms produces three variants of the rifle:

  1. Submachinegun (M85)
  2. Assault Rifle (M90/M90A)
  3. Light Machine Gun (M90/M90A)

[edit] Design and Features

  • Individual characteristics:
    • M90/M90A - can shoot rifle grenade using rifle grenade sights and attachment, which are delivered in the weapon set.
    • M90 LMG has integral folding bipod.
    • M90A LMG has a bipod, which can be taken off (thus creating the possibility to shoot from small holes on armored vehicles)
    • All rifles can accept an AK bayonet which is included in the weapon set.
  • Optional characteristics:
    • On customer's demand, all members of the family can have optical sight and the set can include mount, optical sights and night sights.
    • Sub-types of assault rifles have integral rifle grenade sights, and their complete sets have the rifle grenade attachment.
