I have removed this sentence:
- Even though they were a Communist country, they had broken ties with the Soviet Union in the late 1940's and would not have had access to the Soviets supply.
This is essentially correct (ties with the Soviet Union were severed in 1948 and gradually restored after Stalin's death in 1953), but it's not relevant: the rifle was designed and introduced c. 1970, i.e. much later than that era. GregorB (talk) 01:58, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
