Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you've been adding your signature to some of your article contributions. This is a simple mistake to make and is easy to correct. For future reference, the need to associate edits with users is taken care of by an article's edit history. Therefore, you should use your signature only when contributing to talk pages, the Village Pump, or other such discussion pages. For a better understanding of what distinguishes articles from these type of pages, please see What is an article?. Again, thanks for contributing, and enjoy your Wikipedia experience! Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove speedy deletion tags from pages that you have created yourself, as you did with Ping (band). If you do not believe the page should be deleted, then please place {{hangon}} on the page (please do not remove any existing speedy deletion tag) and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Ros0709 (talk) 09:28, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the info. -Zarepta

Welcome!

Hello, Zarepta, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

I notice you are using REDIRECT tags incorrectly. Let me explain how links work in Wikpedia.

  • If you are linking from one Wikipedia article to another, place the name of the article you want to link to in double square brakcets. If you want something other than the name of the liked page to appear, place this in the brackets too, separated by a pipe character. For example, [[Page to link|text to display]].
  • If you are linking outside of Wikipedia use one square bracket. Text can be given as before, but this time no pipe character is needed. For example, [http://news.bbc.co.uk BBC News].
  • The #REDIRECT tag you are using is for use alone on a redirection page so that, for example, the page for Dr Who could direct to the article Doctor Who.

[edit] Speedy deletion of Ping (band)

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages such as Ping (band), to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I have tried to provide you with some useful info regarding contributing to Wikipedia but your outburst at Ping (band) is in danger of getting you banned from editing, so please continue only with a cool head. Rightly or wrongly, Wikipedia has criteria for inclusion - you have to assert and demonstrate significance. Ros0709 (talk) 11:15, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
