[edit] Image Tagging Image:Sindi-Watts Marisa-Warrington-2002.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Sindi-Watts Marisa-Warrington-2002.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Please add a tag to let us know its copyright status. (If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged imaged will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Sherool 00:27, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] About image tagging

Hi again. Thanks for tagging your images, I suspect however you have misunderstood how copyrights work. Some of the images you have uploaded looks very much like screenshots from a TV series or movie. These are copyrighted and even if you "take" the picture you can't release it under {{GFDL-self}} unless you actualy own the copyrights for the movie or tv-series the frame is copied from. Such images can still be used, but under fair use, not GFDL. If you actualy do own the copyright for those images then my apologies, but if you do then you need to provide a bit more "proof" on the image description page, in fact the more information you provide on the image the better (regardles of it's copyright status), there are a lot of poorly in incorectly tagged images (tens of thousands) on the Wikipedia and a lot of then can in a worst case scenario lead to a lawsuit again the Wikimedia foundation (quite unlikely, but the risk is there), so the less information you provide on the source and status of your images the more likely it is that will eventualy be deleted "just in case". It's a pain in the neck I know, but it needs to be done. Thanks again. --Sherool 18:37, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Adding images to articles

When adding images into an article, don't forgot to add the thumb syntax. For example:

[[Image:Test.jpg|thumb|right|This is the caption of the image.]] instead of just [[Image:Test.jpg]]

[edit] Image:Lori-Lee Michelle-Ang-2002-2003.jpg has been listed as a possibly unfree image

An image that you uploaded, Image:Lori-Lee Michelle-Ang-2002-2003.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. If you have any information on the source or licensing of this image, please go to its page to provide the necessary information. Thank you.

Why did you delete the templates from this image? Your edit summary was "del" — did you want the image deleted? --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 13:02, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked for copyright fraud

You uploaded the image Image:David-Bishop Kevin-Harrington-2003.jpg (since deleted), a screenshot from a television series, claiming to be the creator of the image and claiming to release it under GFDL. These claims are false on their face. You have therefore been blocked for 72 hours for copyright fraud. If you do this again, you will be blocked permanently. Kelly Martin 14:42, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] external links to your website

Please do not mass-add links to your website to Wikipedia. This practice is frowned-upon, and is often considered spamming. I have kept your links and images (reformatted, per Wikipedia style) where useful, but deleted your changes where I feel they were harmful to the pages concerned. Please do not re-add your links, and please do not attempt to mass-add links to Wikipedia again. If you do so, you will be blocked (again). --fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 18:17, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Images

[edit] Missing source information

The following images

  • Image:Helen-Daniels.jpg
  • Image:Oscar-Scully Ingo-Dammer-Smith-2004.jpg

are missing source and proper licensing information. You cannot release content you do not own under the GFDL, and I strongly believe you do not own these images. Please be aware that Wikipedia takes a very firm line in dealing with copyright infringing material, as the Wikimedia Foundation cannot afford any legal hassle arising from such.

These images have now been tagged as having no source information, and removed from any articles they are used in, per policies. Please be advised that these images will be deleted in 7 days as part of our criteria for speedy deletion.

[edit] Image:Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan.jpg

I'm sorry, but Image:Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan.jpg does not qualify as a screenshot for the purposes of United States fair use law.

[edit] Fair use rationale needed

Please provide fair use rationale for the following images:

  • Image:Michelle-Ang-2002-2003.jpg
  • Image:Joe-Mangel Mark-Little -1988-1991.jpg
  • Image:Karl-Kennedy Alan-Fletcher-1994.jpg
  • Image:Connor-O'Neill Patrick-Harvey.jpg
  • Image:Sindi Watts Marisa Warrington.jpg
  • Image:Janelle-Timmins Nell-Feeney-2005.jpg
  • Image:Terence Donovan.jpg
  • Image:Paul-Robinson Stefan-Dennis-1985-1993-2005.jpg
  • Image:Carla-Bonner.jpg
  • Image:Stephanie-Scully Carla-Bonner-1999.jpg
  • Image:Lance-Wilkinson Andrew-Bibby.jpg
  • Image:Izzy-natalie basinthwaighte.jpg
  • Image:Lyn-Scully Janet-Andrewartha.jpg
  • Image:Joel-Samuels Daniel-MacPherson.jpg
  • Image:CHERYL STARK Caroline Gillmer.jpg
  • Image:Cheryl-Stark Colette-Mann.jpg

You should be aware that if a rationale is not provided correctly, then the fair use will not be valid, and the images will need to be deleted.

Might I suggest you review

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Cathy-1993.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Cathy-1993.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 09:09, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Philip Martin Christopher Milne, Ian Rawlings-1992-1999.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Philip Martin Christopher Milne, Ian Rawlings-1992-1999.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Longhair 11:46, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Anne-Wilkinson Brooke-Satchwell-1996-2000.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Anne-Wilkinson Brooke-Satchwell-1996-2000.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 02:06, 22 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Longhair\talk 02:06, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Toadie.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Toadie.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. [edit] Image:Anne-Wilkinson Brooke-Satchwell-1996-2000.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Anne-Wilkinson Brooke-Satchwell-1996-2000.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Longhair\talk 07:02, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
