ZAP-X is a Crossover Electric Vehicle previously expected to be launched in 2008 by ZAP Motors and Lotus Engineering based on the Lotus APX prototype platform[1]. The car is now expected to be released in 2010.[2] The claimed potential performance statistics are a total of 644 bhp (480 kW/653 PS) from four in-wheel electric motors, a 350-mile (560 km) single charge range, 155 mph (249 km/h) top speed, 0–60 mph acceleration in 4.8 seconds and a 10 minute recharge time.
The announced specifications[3] closely match those from the MINI QED[4] built by PML Flightlink and imply that the Zap-X will use the same Hi-Pa Drive system.
Reservations are available for $25,000. Zap-X will cost approximatelly $60,000. [5]
