Zanesville was incorporated in 1992. Located on the border of Allen and Wells counties southwest of Fort Wayne, it is governed by a three-member town council and a clerk-treasurer. The population was 602 at the 2000 census.

Zanesville residents are ineligible for street mail delivery, and thus, must get their mail at the post office.

Zanesville is in the 260 area code, and its phone prefix is 638. The zip code is 46799. Zanesville has a police department serviced by a part-time marshall, and fire service is provided by Southwest Allen County Fire District.

Zanesville is located at 40°54′57″N, 85°16′53″W (40.915947, -85.281260)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.8 square miles (1.9 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 602 people, 212 households, and 172 families residing in the town. The population density was 806.6 people per square mile (309.9/km²). There were 232 housing units at an average density of 310.8/sq mi (119.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.17% White, 0.17% Native American, 0.17% from other races, and 0.50% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.17% of the population.

There were 212 households out of which 40.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.3% were married couples living together, 9.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.4% were non-families. 15.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.84 and the average family size was 3.13.

In the town the population was spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.2 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $57,727, and the median income for a family was $58,375. Males had a median income of $40,893 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the town was $20,606. About 4.6% of families and 4.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.1% of those under age 18 and 10.0% of those age 65 or over.
