Zane family

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zane family is an important family in the history of the U.S. state of Ohio. Ohio's connection to the Zanes began with the brothers Isaac and Ebenezer Zane (1747–1811), who laid out much of the Ohio Territory, including the municipalities of Zanesville and Zanesfield.

Zane Grey (1872–1939), a popular author of Western novels, was the latest notable figure of the family. Grey's mother was part of the Zane family, and was given the name Zane in honor of this maternal line.
