I'm on a perpetual wikibreak. If you need to reach me try zandrousAThotmailDOTcom. To learn more about my work and find selected examples of papers I've delivered and articles I've published see www.zacharyandrous.com. I am a medical anthropologist. I don't do too much here on Wikipedia because my time is mostly taken up with my work, but since my research is directly related to U.S. circumcision practices I occasionally lend my voice to the wide ranging presentation of information on circumcision herein. As Gollaher wryly noted, "the peer reviewed literature on circumcision is riddled with contradictions" which makes the application of Wikipedia's policies to this topic a fascinating exercise. I welcome dialogue on this or any other topic.

[edit] Research Interests

My current research includes the role of medical knowledge in parental decision making for or against infant circumcision in the United States and adult elective circumcision in the United States and Europe. Other areas of interest include both mainstream and transgressive body modification in various societies, Indigenous sovereignty and political activism, and American Indian material culture.

[edit] Other Interests

I'm a self taught silver and goldsmith. I play hammered dulcimer, electric bass, and a wide variety of percussion. I collect masks. I'm a deadhead who first jumped on the bus at RFK in 89. I've been in two oceans, three rivers, two seas and a bay and a lake, but I don't like to swim. I like to cook and I like to eat.
