Zaim is a Moldovan village located 7 km from the regional center of Causeni. Population 4,657, of which 4,569 Moldovans, 24 Ukrainians, 48 Russians, 4 Gagauzians, 0 Bulgarians, 0 Jews, 1 Pole, 0 Gypsies, and 11 other/undeclared. The dominant language is Romanian.

Zaim is well known in Moldova because of the house/museum of Alexei Mateevici, a famous poet of southern Bessarabia. Also found in Zaim is the Museum of the Spirit of South-western Moldova that includes exhibits of a number of artists and writers with origins in South-western Bessarabia.
