[edit] Biography

Zaid was born in Sultanah Aminah Hospital at 5:17 PM in Johor Bahru, Malaysia[citation needed].

[edit] Family

Zaid's father, Ibrahim Mohamed is a custom's officer working at the Tanjung Puteri Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex (CIQ) at the Malaysia-Singapore border. He was a staunch UMNO supporter but he changed his mind when the current Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi cancelled the Gerbang Perdana Project. However, he would still vote for UMNO in the next coming elections as he thinks that PAS would do worse[citation needed]. Ibrahim Mohamed is a simple man with a simple life, aiming to fulfill his life with religion and Sufism. He is a man with a cool head and he never raised his voice when he was angry. He is an affectionate and a patient father and husband. He respects the old and he never complaints nor criticize.

Zaid's mother, Noor Hayati Ibrahim, second daughter of one of the first Malay ship captain in Singapore[citation needed]. She is currently working with AmBank. A mother who worries too much for her children, Noor Hayati would always go the extra mile to help them when they are in need. She would like to see all her children to be successful and not to lead a miserable life like she did during her younger years[citation needed].

Zaid has three siblings, an elder brother Anwar Ibrahim, a younger brother Ikram Ibrahim and a younger sister Nur Sarah Ibrahim. Ibrahim Mohamed three sons names were inspired by political characters in Malaysia with exception of Ikram Ibrahim inspired by the then popular al-Arqam movement.

Anwar Ibrahim is an opinionated and a steadfast man. During his final year exam, he refused to follow his girlfriend's advice to do past-year papers as he thought that it would be useless and it would not help him expand his knowledge[citation needed]. He graduated from Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur in Electrical Engineering in 2005. A charismatic man and a natural leader, he often took heavy responsibilities in school and university. He was the President of the Interact Club and the Head Prefect in secondary school, and later he became the Secretary of the Engineering Society in his university. He is currently working with a factory in Pulau Pinang and he lives with his uncle.

Ikram Ibrahim and Nur Sarah Ibrahim are still young and they are still trying to find themselves. Ikram sat for PMR in 2005. A brother especially loved by Zaid Ibrahim, he listens to his brother's advice and life lessons. Nur Sarah, who is 8 years old in 2006 watches cartoon on Cartoon Network everyday. Her favourite movie must have been Gerak Khas as she watched it 1589 times[citation needed] in just two years.

Zaid Ibrahim is a young man currently studying at University of Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens, France. He is undertaking a three-year course in la Gestion des Entreprises et l'Administration. He plans to specialize in Accountancy in his second-year. As a young child, Zaid Ibrahim had not many friends due to his, like his brother, opinionated attitude. He represented his school in many competitions notably public speaking and debate. He was also very interested in current affairs and politics and has been reading the Time magazine and Utusan Malaysia since he was 10. A very intelligent young child, he was always the top five student until when he was 15, when he decided that intellectual pursuits should not end with textbooks, especially Malaysian ones. He thus decided to expand his knowledge by learning things outside school syllabus One of the things he learnt was programming with Visual Basic, computer maintenance and of course Malaysian law. He is very fluent in writing English and writes well[citation needed].

[edit] The Breakup

In late 2004, Zaid broke up with his long-time girlfriend, Intan Afiqah Abdul Wahid. This event changed his attitude substantially. He used to be someone extremely critical of smokers, drinkers and drug users. After the breakup, Zaid started to pick up these habits deemed nasty especially from where he was born. However, this was also due to him opening up due to his new life in France[citation needed].

The breakup came by as a surprise as he was unprepared. He felt cheated because Intan was disloyal to him when he was loyal to her. However, he was not an easy person to be with as he was perfectionist, opinionated, stubborn and vulgar[citation needed]. This might have caused Intan to feel overwhelmed an unhappy thus deciding to leave him.

This led him to a confusion and he constantly asked himself whether god had forsaken him[citation needed] and he attempted suicide as a way to stop suffering. In the hospital, he saw sick old people in his ward, and this led him to realize that he did not deserve to be there as his injury was self-inflicted and that he was selfish for attempting suicide.

His father however understood Zaid's situation, as he had been in one too and dropped out of university because of it[citation needed]. His father later sent a book, Awaken the Giant Within written by Anthony Robbins, a motivational book. Zaid then gained back his energy and confidence and board himself on a mission to get back his love and change his attitude to be a better person. He recovered not only physically but also mentally.

Six months later, he succeeded.

He also believes in the freedom of expression and the freedom to choose one's religion without harm nor discrimination. He thinks that the pro Malay policies are ridiculous and the government should help everyone in need.

Zaid would want to be able to speak at least six languages and read 50,000 books before he dies. He's currently at around 50[citation needed].

He would also want to do a law degree, a masters in accounting and finance and finally be an accredited accountant.
