Zahrad

Zareh Yaldizciyan (1923-2007) better known by his pen name as Zahrad (Armenian: Զահրատ) was an Armenian diasporan poet, characterized by Levon Ananyan as "the huge oak of the diasporan poetry, whose literary heritage had a deep and stable influence upon modern poetry of not only diaspora, but also Armenia".
Zahrad was born in Istanbul. In 1942 he graduated from the local Mkhitarian Armenian Lyceum, then edited the "San" periodical. A poet with a new style was seen in his collection "Big Town" published in 1960. Zahrad's "Kind Heaven" was published in 1971, "Green Earth" in 1976 and collection "A Spring with One Stone" in 1989.
