[edit] Plot

Smith has released little information about the film, except that it is a comedy about two lifelong platonic friends who have managed to trudge into adulthood with a satisfying lack of accomplishment. However, a high school reunion and dire rent problems spark the novel moneymaking idea of pulling together an amateur porn enterprise with their friends. As the film begins shooting, however, Zack and Miri realize their feelings for each other might be more than just that of friends.[2][3]

[edit] Production

The film began shooting in Pittsburgh on 16th January 2008, with a projected release date of fall 2008.[4] Shooting concluded on March 12, 2008,[5] and as of April 9, 2008, Smith reports the final cut to be 1:45 in length.[6]

[edit] Cast

Although the lead role was written for her, Rosario Dawson will not take part in the film, as she will be doing Eagle Eye.[8] The November 16 issue of USA Today confirmed that the roles of Zack and Miri will be played by Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, who co-starred together in The 40 Year-Old Virgin.[9] In January, Smith revealed that Tyler Labine,[10] Katie Morgan, Craig Robinson, Traci Lords, Jeff Anderson, Jason Mewes, and Ricky Mabe will have supporting roles in the film.[11]

Smith, who is unusually accessible to his fans, offered the roles of extras and small bit parts to his fans via his online web board www.viewaskew.com/theboard, and later through his MySpace account. So far he has shot at least 2 scenes with his fans serving as extras.
