Zachary's Pizza is a Chicago-style pizzeria in California's East Bay that was ranked in the 2007 Michelin San Francisco restaurant guide [1] among the best pizzerias in the San Francisco Bay Area, and as one of the 13 best pizzas in America by AOL CityGuide.[2] In the last 20 years, Zachary's Pizza has been voted "best pizza" (or similar acclaim) over 100 times by regional and national publications.

Zachary's offers both thin-crust and deep-dish style pizzas, but it is their deep-dish variety that earned them their fame in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their deep-dish pizzas, although inspired by the pies invented in Chicago in the 1940s, are distinctly influenced by California cuisine. Like most top restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area, Zachary's uses local, high-quality meats and produce. This brings out the flavor of their pies and gives them a distinctness from the Chicago pizzerias. In their deep-dish pizzas, their deep-red, chunky tomato sauce is placed on top of the crust, cheese and toppings.

Started by Zach Zachowski and Barbara Gabel in 1983, it has been employee owned since 2003.[1] The walls of each Zachary's restaurant are decorated with framed drawings submitted by the local community. The drawings are done on an equal-sized (roughly 3' by 5') piece of white paper and have a pizza theme. The drawings are usually done with marker, crayon, or watercolor. Each drawing is eventually taken down to be replaced by another.
