z Jenštejna

Branch of family of Jan Očko z Vlašime and brothers Michael and Pavel z Vlašime.


Paul z Vlasime is listed in 1360 as a notary royal chamber and given Hrad Jenštejn in 1368. He wrote z Jenšteina" and is founder of branch Jenšteinské. He had four sons: Martin, John, Paul and Wenceslas. The most important is Jan z Jenštejna who following the resignation of his uncle Jan Očka z Vlašimě became the 1378 Prague Archbishop.


Vanek z Jenstejna, son of Pavel z Jenstejna, was owner of Hrad Bradlec and Stary Hrady near Jicin. Vanek rebelled against the King and Hrad Bradlec was taken by the royal army in 1417. His son Mikulas ( + 1459 ) is listed as the last Lord z Jenstejna.


Coat of Arms z Jenstejna is two Red Vulture Heads in the field of silver common with Jan Ocko z Vlasime.
