[edit] Olympic medalists

Thanks for taking on some of the "Olympic medalists in sport" pages. Most are still missing, and a few others look terrible, but I really like the way that List of Olympic medalists in tennis and List of Olympic medalists in golf turned out! I created the {{flagIOCathlete}}, {{flagIOCteam}}, etc. templates to help these pages have a consistent look and to make editing easier, and I'm happy to see that another editor has adopted their usage too! [edit] Portuguese football league system

Espero ter-me feito entender. Fica bem--Serte Talk · Contrib ] 18:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Exactamente. Obrigado. Acho que fica bem melhor assim, não ficam ali os nomes das série todos entalados e a ocupar muito espaço na vertical. Bom trabalho.--Serte Talk · Contrib ] 23:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Recent Olympic article edits

Hi, welcome back to Olympic article editing! I'm especially happy to see you update some of the pages that don't yet use the {{flagIOCathlete}} etc. templates. However, some of your edits are contrary to some of the styles that we have adopted in Wikipedia:WikiProject Olympics:

  • please don't split a "Sport at the year Olympics" article into multiple event pages unless you need to. For example, all of the content for Golf at the 1900 Summer Olympics can easily fit onto one page. There is no need to split it into separate articles for men and women's results. That just complicates navigation for the reader, and maintenance for editors.
  • if you must create a set of event articles, please use the new style for navigation boxes that we have developed in the WikiProject. For example, compare your navigation box for Template:GolfAt1900SummerOlympics to our newer style at Template:CyclingAt2004SummerOlympics, for example.
  • please use {{flagIOCteam}} instead of {{flagIOC}} in medal summary tables so that the country code is also displayed
  • please don't replace instances of {{OlympicGoldMedalist}} etc. on event pages

If there are any other style questions you might have, please consider discussing them on the project talk page at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Olympics. There are a group of die-hard editors working on Olympic articles who would be happy to help, and we seem to be doing a good job at arriving at consensus for consistent styles on our thousands of pages! [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Leixões_SC.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Leixões_SC.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 17:34, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:Leixões SC.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Leixões SC.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:21, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] September 2007

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent contribution removed content from List of twin towns and sister cities in France. Please be careful when editing pages and do not remove content from Wikipedia without a good reason, which should be specified in the edit summary. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Hello. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, which wasn't included with your recent edit to List of twin towns and sister cities in France. Thank you. Tiptoety 14:02, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Suggestions noted. Thank you for your strong efforts on making Wikipedia a better place. ZdS| talk  14:05, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for apologizing on my talk page, just to let you know the software i use does not allow me to just revert 1 edit, it reverts all edits made by the user if identified as vandalism. I could have just clicked "undo" but i did not believe that was appropriate in this situation. Please be more careful (like warning me) and so will I. Thank you, Tiptoety 14:08, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] European Cup 1958-59

Hello, Zé da Silva

I've just been reading the revision you made at 21:39, 27 June 2007 on the Wikipedia article entitled 'European Cup 1958-59'. The link below will direct you to the revision.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=European_Cup_1958-59&diff=141047131&oldid=141046416

I was wondering whether you could tell me a little bit about this match...two questions that spring to mind are (a) why was this match played if the match was not recognised by the English FA; and (b), why was the first leg played and not the second leg?

You say the match was played on 25-09-1958, presumably at Old Trafford?

Six days later, Manchester United played BSC Young Boys again, in a friendly match. Below is a link to the official programme for that match.

http://www.footballzone.co.uk/images/i-10000/10326.jpg

I've seen this programme on a few different websites; some say it was played at Old Trafford, some say it was played at BSC's home in Berne, Switzerland...the venue for the match doesn't appear clear on the programme because Manchester United's name appears above BSC's but BSC's stadium appears above Manchester United's. What is certain, however, is that it was played on 01-10-1958.

Another interesting thing I thought I'd bring your attention to is a sentence that appears on the Wikipedia article entitled 'Manchester United F.C.' It says:

"At the end of the season, UEFA offered the FA the opportunity to submit both United and the eventual champions, Wolverhampton Wanderers, for the 1958–59 European Cup as a tribute to the victims, but the FA declined."

Anyway mate, any information you could provide me regarding both matches would be brilliant.

Kind regards,
