Yalamanchili Venkata Satyanarayana Chowdary (born May 23 in Gudiwada) is a popular Telugu film director. His screen name is YVS Chowdary. His movies Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo, Seathiah, Devdas were super duper hits.

Born in Gudiwada, Chowdary spent most of his childhood there. His father was a lorry driver. His mother was from Bhatlapenumarru of krishna district in the State of Andhra Pradesh and is a house wife. He lives in India.

Chowdary directed 7 films, with six of them super hits. Before becoming a director, he has Associated with Big Directors such as K. Raghavendra Rao, Ram Gopal Varma, Mahesh Bhatt and Krishna Vamsi. Y.V.S is the owner of Bommarillu Banner and produced big hits like Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo, Seathiah, Devdas and his first flop of his career Okka Magadu.

YVS Chowdary was a passionate movie lover and an ardent fan of NTR (a legend in Andhra Pradesh) before he entered Tollywood. He started the trend of making films with new star cast with Nagarjuna's home production SSRKCR. He directed actors such as Akkineni Nageswararao, Akkineni Nagarjuna,, Nandamuri HariKrishna, Mahesh Babu and Nandamuri Balakrishna.
