Yvette Chauviré

Yvette Chauviré (born April 22, 1917) is a French prima ballerina assoluta who was born in Paris. She celebrated her 90th birthday in 2007. She is possibly the greatest French ballerina of her time. She was the étoile of the Paris Opera Ballet, and later its director. She is also the holder of the Légion d'Honneur.
Yvette often danced with Rudolph Nureyev, especially when he first defected form the Soviet Union to Paris. She attended his funeral with the other great French dancer Leslie Caron. [1]
