Yuriy Drohobych

Yuriy Drohobych, (Юрій Дрогобич, Georgius de Drohobycz) by birthname Yuriy Kotermak , (1450 in Drohobych - 4 February 1494 in Krakow) was a Ukrainian philosopher, astrologist, writer, doctor, the first Ukrainian doctor of medicine. He is an author of "Iudicium Pronosticon Anni 1483 Currentis" the first book published abroad by a Ukrainian.
He was brought up in Drohobych and received a bachelor's and master's degree from Jagiellonian University (Uniwersytet Jagielloński) in Krakow (1470, 1473) and degree of doctor of Philosophy and Medicine from University of Bologna (1478, 1482).
In the years 1478 - 1482, he delivered lectures on mathematics, astronomy and medicine at the Bologna University and was, at the same time, head of the department of medicine.
1481–1482 rector of University of Bologna - the oldest degree-granting university in the world, where he taught.
1487 he became a professor of medicine in Jagiellonian University, Krakow.
7th February 1483 in Rome published "Magistri Georgii Drohobich de Russia Iudicium Pronosticon Anni 1483 Currentis" (Latin for Prognostic Estimation of the Year 1483) that included research at astrological forecast, geography, astrology and meteorology, but only two copies of it are known to exist in Parisian libraries. This was the first book published abroad by a Ukrainian.
