Yuri Trutnev

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yuri Petrovich Trutnev (Юрий Петрович Трутнев) (born March 1, 1956) is a Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation since 2004. He was elected mayor of the city of Perm in 1996 (achieving 61.42% support in the first round) and elected governor of the Perm region in 2000 (51.48%). Some of political analysts claim that Yuri Trutnev must be considered as one of the possible candidates for the Presidency in 2008, favoured by the Kremlin as a technocrat, who would not destroy the regime built by Vladimir Putin. However during his time as a governor he maintained a neutral stance towards the Kremlin regime, unlike many other governors who joined the pro-Putin party United Russia. Trutnev's hobbies include rally racing and karate.
