We should change the spelling of his name to Julian Karol Sochocki. He was a Polish mathematician, but when he was born, Poland did not exist as an independent state. There should not be any doubt that the Polish language is an independent one.Kgsteffens 22:16, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

I think we should spell his name in whatever way his name has been most often spelled in English. We should defer to the most common convention, coupled with appropriate redirect links and explanations in the article. Perhaps if he, personally, had expressed a preference while he was alive on the English-alphabet spelling of his name, then we could accept that instead of convention, but I don't think that's the case here. Or is there some wikipedia policy on this that I don't know? --Steve 03:40, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
