Yugoslav Railways (Croatian: Jugoslavenske željeznice, Serbian: Југословенске железнице (in latinic: Jugoslovenske železnice), Slovene: Jugoslovanske železnice, Macedonian: Jugoslovenski železnici), with standard acronym JŽ, was a railway company created in Belgrade, in the 1920s as a successor to Serbian State Railways. In the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, its name was Yugoslav State Railways (JDŽ).
[edit] Rolling stock
In its beginnings, the JŽ was using mostly Hungarian-made steam locomotives. With the beginning of the electric era, they acquired Italian-made locomotives, which was followed by Swedish and local-made.
Most of the diesel locomotives were made by General Motors.
