Ysopet

Ysopet or isopet (little Aesop) refers to a medieval collection of fables in French literature, specifically to versions of Aesop's Fables.

The origin of the term dates back to the 12th century, where it was first used by Marie de France, whose collection, written in Anglo-Norman verse, is, she says, translated from an Old English collection which she attributes to Alfred the Great.

Ysopet-Avionnet means a collection drawing on both Aesop and Avianus.
