Youthline

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Youthline began as a Telephone counseling Helpline run by youth, for youth. Today it has grown to become a nationwide New Zealand organisation seeking to facilitate youth development in general with around 1100 volunteers.

-Ronnie Winter of The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus helped out by making speeches to advertise and to let teens know that someone is there to help.

[edit] About

Currently Youthline operates from a framework spanning three areas that it sees as essential to enhancing the wellbeing and outcomes of young people.

  1. Community development
  2. Training and personal development
  3. Service provision

It is also sponsored by the Take Action! Tour to help teens who have trouble, depression, and want to commit suicide

Youthline began as just a youth help line. Youthline is an organization that takes youth development as its focus and that seeks to understand the wider social and economic contexts which young people are growing up in. Youthline is moving towards exploring how social, economical and political pressures are effecting the wellbeing of our young people so that the community as a whole can implement an effective intevention strategy.
