Youth Conference (Newfoundland)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Youth Conference (YC) Newfoundland is an inter-denominational Christian event held annually in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador the weekend immediately before the second Monday in the month of October. YC Newfoundland is the first branch off the original YC. It's held almost on a rotational basis in the largest centers in the province.

YC Newfoundland was first held in front of 1500 attendees at The Glacier in Mount Pearl. It has grown to attendance figures of 3000 - 3500. It is organized by a committee from Pentecostal Assemblies of Newfoundland & Labrador. The head of this group since the beginning of YC Newfoundland is Pastor Dean Brenton.

[edit] YC Malawi

In 2004 God set something powerful in motion through an offering for an orphanage in Lilongwe, Malawi called the Village of Hope. Since that time our connection to Malawi has only been intensifying. We knew in 2005 when we raised another miracle offering for the VOH that it would only be a matter of time before God would call us beyond giving to GOING! That time is here. This is a connection to an incredible DREAM and VISION that God has birthed in Malawi, Newfoundland, and Alberta. God has been stirring hearts around Canada and around the globe to come together for something we are calling YC MALAWI. This event will be historic in the nation of Malawi and for YC. We are coming together for much more than a three day event but a missions experience to impact one of the neediest nations in the world. For approximately two weeks teams from Canada will converge on Malawi to minister in a variety of settings and locations. As a great finale to this mission on August 8-10, 2008 we will converge on the Silver Striker Stadium in Lilongwe to become the event staff at YC Malawi. Here we will join with all the teams from Canada, international ministry guests, and thousands of Malawian youth to proclaim that Jesus REIGNS! This is no ordinary missions’ trip. This is the convergence of a vision and a unity of purpose that can truly change the world. We would love for you to seriously pray about attending and then follow the procedures outlined in this booklet and begin the journey to an incredible opportunity and to a needy world.[1]
