Yousif bin Abdulrahman Fakhro

Yousif bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulla bin Hasan bin Mahmood al-Fakhro (Arabic المحسن يوسف بن عبدالرحمن بن عبدالله بن حسن بن محمود آل فخرو) (lived 18711952), also known as Yusuf Al Oud, was one of the most prominent and wealthiest businessmen in Bahrain.

He owned more than fifty ships/dhows that roamed the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean, with offices in Bahrain, Basra, India, Kuwait and Dubai, and established what is known today as the Fakhro Group, a diversified family business based in Bahrain.

He had five sons – Ahmed (died 1979), Mohamed (died 1989), Abdulla (died 2001), Ibrahim (died 2001) and Ali(died 2008) – and eight daughters.

He was known to finance the government of Bahrain at the time and the Ottoman army.

He was one of the few businessmen that filled in to establish the first school in Bahrain in 1919, Al-Hidaya Al-Khalifiya.
